About

Laurence York is an ARB registered architect based between London and Devon.

After graduating from the undergraduate degree programme at the University of Plymouth in 2010 he worked in the studio of award winning architect Stan Bolt, where he produced bespoke contemporary dwellings in spectacular locations around the Southwest of England.

He then graduated with First Class Honours from the Masters programme at the University of Greenwich, London, having studied under Simon Herron, Susanne Isa, Nicholas Szczepaniak and Jonathan Hagos, where he also received a number of awards for both design and draftsmanship.

Laurence went on to work in the globally-renowned office of Lord Norman Foster, working internationally on museums, skyscrapers, city plans and residential projects.

Afterwards he transitioned to the smaller scale, working for a number of years at notable AJ 40 Under 40 studio Freehaus, leading projects ranging from community spaces in delicate historic contexts, to bespoke residences for private clients, before going on to work more closely with construction projects for a mid-sized developer, leading boutique hotel developments and the management of multi-unit residential developments.

Laurence started taking on private commissions for private houses across the country in 2020, focusing primarily on bespoke one-off dwellings in rural locations, and adaptations to existing townhouses around London and the Southeast.
